Rook came to us from Fallowfield in Vermont at ten weeks, chosen because nothing in his pedigree overlaps ours for eight generations. He is a fawn brindle and white parti, 21½ inches, with the kind of rear that keeps a whippet sound into old age. He is a dual champion, which in this breed means the show ring and the coursing field both agreed on him. He is also a clown: he carries a ball everywhere and will drop it on your foot until you give in. Steady with other males, polite with visiting bitches, hopeless with squirrels.
