Fia is home-bred, out of Tess, and the best stock dog we have produced. She is not a show dog and we have stopped pretending otherwise — she took one Green Star as a youngster and has spent her time since on the hill. On sheep she is quick, a little tight on her flanks when she is excited, and she will hold a stubborn ewe off a gate all day. In the house she is soft and slightly anxious with strangers for the first ten minutes, which we tell families so they are not surprised when they visit. She is a hereditary cataract (HSF4) carrier and is only ever mated to clear dogs.
