Sorcha came to us from Mournevale in Co. Down at nine weeks and has never once walked into a room quietly. She is the dog we take to shows, to agility on Sunday mornings and out to the ewes when Ciarán needs a second pair of legs — she gathers wide and soft, and she will stop when asked, which is not a given in a young merle bitch. At home she is a shadow: wherever Niamh is, Sorcha is lying across the doorway. She is an MDR1 carrier, which we tell every family, and she is the mother of the current litter.
