The Hedgerow litter, 2022

Hazel's first litter: seven puppies, three dogs and four bitches. We kept Bramble. All seven have been hip- and elbow-scored. The hip totals are 8, 8, 10, 10, 12, 12 and 15, an average of 10.7. Every elbow is grade 0.
In August 2024, aged two years seven months, Rowan had his first seizure. After a referral work-up, including an MRI and spinal fluid tests, he was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy. He has been on medication since and has been seizure-free since March 2025. Epilepsy in Goldens is thought to be partly inherited, but there is no DNA test. We told every family in the litter and Summer Storm's owner the same week. We have not repeated the pairing, and we keep it in mind whenever we plan a litter from Bramble's line.
